Communication between censorship institutions and church magazines duringthe period 1956-1989 as per example of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren

This thesis is concerned with the issue of the publication of church newspapers and magazines and the regulation thereof by state institutions and organs of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in the period 1956-1989. The first chapter gives a general overview of the policy of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in the field of mass media and is divided into three parts: after the Second World War, after the communist putsch in February 1948 and after the invasion by armies of the Soviet Block in August 1968. To better understand the situation of the church in that period of time it was necessary to include a chapter that outlines the general context of the way in which the Communist Party perceived and understood the church and religion as such, and therefore the second chapter offers a short introduction to the 'church policy' of the Communist Party. The third chapter monitors general facts related to the publishing business of the time, with special reference to the church newspaper and its control and restriction by the Central Church Publisher and Secretariat for Church Affairs of the Ministry of Culture. Christian Peace Conference and divided Germany in the time of bipolar world

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze ideas how to deal with the german question after the Second World War which were brought up by one of the largest postwar ecumenical organizations - Christian Peace Conference. Using this example, the author of this thesis wants to describe nature of the organization whose establishment was initiated by the cooperation between theologians and active Christians from the Eastern bloc and their Western counterparts, particularly the ones from the Federal Republic of Germany. Therefore, the thesis presents ideas of Christian Peace Conference and then compares them with the development of international relations during the Cold War and shows potential political implications of these ideas. This issue also illustrates the evolution of negotiations among European actors in the international arena after 1968. Lastly, the thesis addresses the question how could an organization like Christian Peace Conference work in the socialist state the German Democratic Republic was.

The Helsinki process and it's impact on the regime oposition in GDR and ČSSR

This bachelor thesis deals with the opposition movement in the former Czechoslovak Socialistic Republic and the German Democratic Republic and aims at their comparison after signing the Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe. This Helsinki Accords committed both states to the observance of human rights. In the first part of the thesis the approaches of different authors to use the term of opposition and dissent are defined. The second part primarily outlines the international situation after the World War II and mentions the need for a European Security Conference, which after all led to the CSCE. In the third part, the opposition movements in both states are presented, and it is investigated how the situation of the opposition in both countries was influenced by the Helsinki process. The Charter 77 was quickly formed in Czechoslovakia. It referred to the commitments made in the Helsinki Final Act in its statement. The development was slower in the GDR. There was a stable opposition from the circle of the Evangelical Church, and mainly addressed was the peace question. The Human Rights Movement was inspired by the Czechoslovak Charter 77 and it began to emerge only in the second half of the eighties. This indicates that the development of the opposition movement...

Ecclesiology of Robert Jenson

The aim of this thesis is to provide an appropriate evaluation of ecclesiological concept in thinking of Robert Jenson through reading, interpretation and assessment of the text of the book: JENSON, W. Robert. Systematic Theology: The Works of God. Vol. 2., sub-chapter "The Church's Founding", pages 167-188. The focus of his concept is based on presenting multi-dimensional structure of the Church in time-place settings as an intrinsic expression for her catholicity. Term "totus Christus" is an expression for the actual relation of the Head and the Body. Subsequently, author elaborates concept of relation of the Church towards the Church's foundational and within- opened-time-of-delayed-parusia inducing and sustaining realities. In the second part, author elaborates a concept of role of the Spirit as the relational vivifying force of the Christ and the Church; possibility of lack of the Spirit; and indivisible clasp of the Christology, the Pneumatology and the Ecclesiology. Author also deals with concept of the Church as the eschatological detour, which is embedded within a broader framework of the split eschatology (in American theology called "the telescopic eschatology"). Protestant congregations and Spiritualism in Podkrkonoší

After 1781 there were established several Protestant congregations in Podkrkonoší (North-East Bohemia). Approximately one hundred years later, the whole region was greatly affected by Spiritualism, a belief in communication with spirits of the dead through mediums. My objective is to describe the attitudes of the Protestant congregations in Podkrkonoší towards Spiritualism and analyse their causes and effects. Understanding these attitudes will yield an insight into the character of the present congregations. For this purpose, I studied the congregations in Libštát, Křížlice, and Jičín. In particular I focused on their parish priests because they had the control over their flock in these questions. I went through the archival materials of the respective congregations as well as personal diaries, and I analysed the memories of several interviewed people. These findings were then compared with the attitudes of some congregations in Great Britain. The results revealed three different approaches of the priests. Some were very radical, which led to excommunication of Spiritualists. Others were rather tolerant, which resulted in integration of Spiritualists. Finally, some priests were quite secretive, so their parishioners may not have seen a clear line between Spiritualism and Christianity.
